Police refuse to make public the role of undercover cop.

Once again the story of Mark Stone / Kennedy has hit the press, this time after he has apparently offered to give evidence on behalf of the defendants in the Ratcliffe trial. The trial was ultimately dropped by the prosecution after the police declined to provide disclosure relating to the former undercover cop, who was implicated in the alleged "conspiracy to cause aggravated trespass" at Ratcliffe power plant.
Mark is reported to have been working for the National Public Order Intelligence Unit, one of the 'domestic extremism' units run by ACPO to keep tabs on protesters. His role would have been to gather information used to 'disrupt' and undermine protest groups. Given the highly dubious role the NPOIU has, it is hardly surprising that the police would much prefer to keep their work under wraps.
Mark knew a lot of people, and was involved in a hell of a lot of organising. Pretty much everything in fact, including environmentalism, anti-fascism, anti-capitalism and animal rights. Some activists at the heart of international organising believe that the involvement of Mark and others like him ultimately led to the collapse of international networks aimed at organising protest on a European and International scale.
There is much talk of Mark having 'gone native', deciding he is on the protesters side after all. If that is true, it is to be hoped that he will have the courage of previous 'outed' undercover cops and go public on the role of the NPOIU and its affect on political dissent and protest in the UK and beyond.

I agree. First off he’s a liability and noone can trust him again after this. Second off, if he has any meaningful intention to support the movements he’s supposedly turned for, he still has valuable information (even if only in the form of talking to the press about his job).

I think you will find that half the radicals working for your organisations are either UC cops or at least on their payroll

He hasn’t turned. According to the Evening Standard website, he resigned from the Met in March and began working for an as yet unnamed security firm run by former Special Branch detectives. His resignation apparently meant he had to hand back his fake documents, which is why he might have gone back to using his real name.
This doesn’t speak to a scenario in which poor Mr Kennedy has decided his employers were wrong and his comrades right. It suggests rather that Kennedy was in some sort of dispute with the Met, perhaps about pay. Leaving them he joined a security company – would he do that if he was serious about having changed?

Forget the fake repentance. Targetting of the judiciary is one method but also a tightening of internal security – take it as a set back, regroup, rearm, return in force. New Scotland Yard delenda est.

Indymedia now has a photograph claimed to be of “Officer A” https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2011/01/471994.html
Probably best to duplicate it in case it “disappears”.

Undercover officers ‘going native’ is nothing new and a bit of a non-story. For every one you name there are ten UC’s or CHIS in your ranks. Half the people writing on here would probably sell their mothers for a bag of brown. The only one’s who like to tell on their mates for cash more than the Eco and Anarchist lot are the Irish. And from what we hear, you lot are a LOT cheaper!
