Thank you, Vancouver media co-op, for articulating the debate on wearing masks so well. This article says all the things I've been wanting to say for a long time - but has done it better than I ever could.

It is particularly relevant as the government has recently 'consulted' on extending the powers of the police to remove masks at protests in the UK. If they get their way, there'll be no need for a s60/s60aa order - any cop at any time will be able to force someone to remove a face covering. It's a way off yet, but definitely on the govt agenda.

Once again violent police are cleared of wrongdoing by a joke of a disciplinary hearing, but at least their victim got some compensation:

Can't Kennedy et al be charged with rape. If one or more of the people involved with him (and other undercover policeman) were to say that they would not have consented to an affair if they had been told that Kennedy was a policeman working undercover (a man who therefore had no interest in a long-term relationship whatever he may have said) rather than a supporter of the environmental cause. Lying in order to get sex has been held to be rape (eg IIRC Owen Oyston) As Kennedy's superiors seem to have been aware of what he was doing, they would (possibly) also be guilty under joint enterprise.

I'd guess the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee http://www.london.gov.uk/moderngov/mgCommitteeDetails.aspx?ID=240 would be a good place to start. I'll fire a link to this page to Jenny Jones, who's on the committee.
